2018 was the year of celebrity weddings. Each wedding caused a media frenzy and set some new wedding trends. Veydaa summarises the trends for you!
Sonam-Anand’s Digital Wedding
The first high profile wedding of 2018 Sonam and Anand embraced the internet culture of today and went the digital way. They ditched the traditional paper invites for e-vites, minimising waste and efforts. Their whole wedding was available for the regular folks to lap up on their phone screens. Sonam’s mehendi night had a “Shades Of White” theme where the entire venue was decorated with white mogras and jasmine and the bride donned a white chikankari lehenga with jasmine covered braids. For the wedding, Sonam wore a stunning red Anuradha Vakil lehenga that had lotus motifs embroidered all over it, lotus being her husband’s favourite flower. For the Anand Karaj ceremony, they opted for a Jaipur inspired theme -complete with the traditional inlay work and low seating.
Bollywood’s favourite couple Deepika and Ranveer got married under the Italian sun in the stunning Villa Del Balbianello overlooking the picturesque Lake Como. Theirs was an extremely private affair with only a handful of guests and a strict no-phone policy at the wedding. The Konkani wedding saw the villa decked up in over 8000 white roses while red roses were the choice of flowers for the Anand Karaj ceremony. The bride wore traditional red-orange silk saree from the famous Angadi Saree Gallery on the first day. The following day, she chose a custom made Sabyasachi lehenga in the richest shade of red with heavy jewellery from the designer’s brand. The highlight of this wedding look was the veil which had Sada Saubhagyawati Bhava embroidered on it.
Priyanka-Nick’s East meets West Wedding
This wedding took place at the iconic Umaid Bhavan in Jaipur. The white wedding saw the bride dressed in a Ralph Lauren gown with a jaw dropping 75ft veil and the hindu ceremony had the bride dressed in custom Sabyasachi. The couple had pop shops with clothes,jewellery,shoes etc for the wedding guests. The whole palace was lit with stunning lights.
Isha-Anand Modern Princess Wedding
This was a royal wedding in the truest sense. The pre wedding festivities of Isha and Anand took place in Udaipur where private jets were used to fly in their guests. The ceremony was a lavish affair with Beyonce’s performance being the final act. Isha got married to Anand at her Mumbai residence Antilia which was decked up exotic flowers and figurines. The bride was dressed in a precious Abu Jani- Sandeep Khosla chikankari lehenga with her mother’s wedding saree draped on one side.
These celebrity wedding sure made the way for some trends. We now know that white is the go to colour for decor. Small weddings are now being observed by more and more couples who want their wedding to be a private affair. Brides can incorporate their heirloom pieces in their wedding attire. And the biggest trend was how love reflected through each and every detail of the weddings.
